The World Trigger anime is running up very close to the manga, and by the time the current series ends in September it'll basically be caught up. So this is essentially a filler arc? Except it's with an entirely new cast? Interesting approach.
Anyway I can't say I expected this but it's good to see the World Trigger anime is successful enough to warrant this. The production started off very poorly but the quality improved during the Invasion arc and the last few episodes of it were actually quite well done. It's Toei so I'll be sure to manage my expectations, but I will be checking this out.
